I love to travel.
To see the world.
See cities and states and countries and sights and wonders that expand beyond my daily Fort Worth, Texas perception.
And the rest of this month, we will be traveling. A lot.
From flying to and from two different states, and then sailing to three different countries - pretty much the rest of October will consist of me living out of my mint green suitcase.
Though traveling is exciting, let's be real - traveling can also be difficult. Long layovers at the airport, frustrating flight changes, disgusting bathrooms, mildew-smelling hotel rooms, lack of sleep, and dealing with a spouse or kids who are irritating the ever-living daylights out of you during what's supposed to be a special "time of bonding" - it's a wonder we are completely exhausted by the time the trip is over.
So, to keep us sane, keep us healthy, and to let us actually ENJOY our time of travel - there's some things that I will never leave the house without.
Travel Essentials:
FOR CLEANING STUFF OFF:
Thieves Hand Purifier. I prefer this stuff over other stuff you can buy at the store. One, because it contains essential oils. But two, because conventional hand purifiers contain triclosan, parabens, phthalates, and tons of other hidden chemicals that are known to weaken the immune system, cause hormone disruption, and irritate allergies.
Thieves Wipes. It's infused with the powerful Thieves essential oil blend, which is known to maintain a healthy body. And if I'm needing to get some extra-clean, I'll use these to wipe off any surfaces - such as high chairs and tables at restaurants, hotel room door handles, remote controls, or arm rests and tray tables on an airplane.
Thieves Spray. Because this is small and portable, it makes it so easy to take with you on trips. One spritz will freshen up counters, sinks, toilets, and pretty much anything with a surface. Because it has only naturally derived, plant-based ingredients, it's completely safe to use around you and your kids. I like to spray a surface with the Thieves Spray, then wipe it down with the Thieves Wipes for a little extra umph.
SUPPLEMENTS:
Ningxia Red. I highly credit this stuff in keeping our entire family healthy 24/7. This is one of the most powerful antioxidant drinks out there, infused with immune-boosting wolfberries and essential oils. All of us drink just 2 ounces a day - one travel-sided pouch - that's it. And we drink that as a part of our daily routine. We always have the pouches on hand since they are small, portable, and super convenient.
Thieves Cough Drops. By far my favorite cough drops of all time, and the most effective. They're so good at relieving coughs, soothing sore throats, and cooling nasal passages. Plus, they have zero processed sugar, dyes, artificial flavors, or preservatives - and are made with naturally derived ingredients, including essential oils and menthol from peppermint. I always have some in my purse, laptop bag, or next to my bed at night.
Super C. Lord knows, to keep a healthy immune system, Vitamin C is the best. This supplement specifically, though, provides 2,166% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C (not even joking on that percentage, that's legit info) and it's fortified with electrolyte-balancing ingredients to promote immune and circulatory function.
Inner Defense. It's only fun being on vacation if you're healthy. So having Inner Defense on hand is a must for all of us, hands down! This supplement reinforces systemic defenses, creates unfriendly terrain for yeast/fungus, promotes healthy respiratory function, and contains potent essential oils like oregano, thyme, and Thieves® which are rich in thymol, carvacrol, and eugenol for immune support.
ESSENTIAL OILS:
First, many of you might have questions about carrying on your essential oils to have with you as you sit on the plane. YES! You can! I highly recommend getting an essential oil carry bag like the ones from Rose Rack Boutique. They have bands that hold your 5ml and 15ml bottles in place, and you still have plenty of room to fit in other supplements or cleansing products.
Frankincense. For all things skin and emotions. I'll apply this oil directly to desired areas of my skin. I'll also apply over my wrists, neck, and heart for emotional support, and deeply inhale from the bottle. We also use this oil to anoint over all of us before we travel, and pray that the Lord will protect us as we go. After all, Frankincense was used in Biblical times - so it's only fitting!
DiGize Vitality. For digestive system support. I mean, can I be honest here? Am I the only one who can't poop unless I'm at home? ***cricket, cricket*** ....no? Okay, well... That's why I bring DiGize Vitality with me. Helps my digestive system move the way it's supposed to. I'll put 3 drops under the tongue after every meal, drink a couple drops in a glass of water, or add to an empty vegetable capsule.
RC. For healthy breathing. This oil is amazing to inhale if you're traveling to places with higher altitudes or different climate changes, because its invigorating scent awakens your body and your mind all at the same time. Just breeeeaaathe this one. Breathe it in. And apply over your chest, under your nose, and behind your neck.
Lavender. For....everything. This is the swiss army knife of all essential oils - so when in doubt - we just use our Lavender. Plus, it's one of the most gentle essential oils, so it's perfect for your little ones. We love using it for healthy skin, restful sleep, and better attitudes during our travels.
Stress Away. For emotions, clear thinking, and balanced decision making. I personally love this as my natural perfume, but we also love using this oil to help us sleep in uncomfortable hotel beds or to calm down during long road trips. It's got a perfectly balanced aroma of both tropical and citrus notes, and is uniquely relaxing when traveling can be rushed and fast-paced.
Thieves. For overall wellness. We apply this essential oil on the bottoms of our feet before we hit the road, after we are done traveling for the day, and if we ever come in contact with gross environments. We also diffuse this in our hotel rooms for extra protection. The name "Thieves" was actually inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves, who formulated a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals, and used them while robbing the dead and dying. So YEAH - we're going to use this while traveling!
Lemon Vitality. For flavoring, for digestive support, for immune support. Instead of drinking a glass of water with a slice of lemon at a restaurant, we will add a couple drops of Lemon Vitality essential oil to it instead. To me, it tastes way better - plus, it's giving us that extra wellness boost that we need while traveling here, there, and everywhere.
Peppermint. For cooling the skin, invigorating the senses, and sharpening the mind. We went to Hawaii when I was seven months pregnant - and Lord, that island sun is HOT. So, I applied Peppermint under my arms, behind my knees, and down my spine - it did a great job cooling me down and helped me enjoy the tropics so much more. We also love to breathe in peppermint while on road trips because it keeps us awake during long drives.
The super fun thing about all of this, is literally so much of this stuff comes in the Premium Starter Kit already - so if you don't have any of this yet - JUST GET A KIT. Get the one with the oils, or with the Thieves cleaning stuff. It's the cheapest way to go, anyway. Plus, it'll arm you with most everything you need to have a happy, healthy, glorious vacation!
Are you going somewhere this fall? I'd love to know what your plans are, too!
